MAYU Swirl Cleaning and Maintenance

The MAYU Swirl is designed to be both durable and low-maintenance. With regular cleaning and simple upkeep, your Swirl will continue to structure and elevate your water for years to come. This guide covers all aspects of cleaning, descaling, and long-term care.

Regular Cleaning: Carafe

To preserve water quality and prevent residue buildup, clean the carafe every 4 to 5 days.
How to Clean
  1. Remove the magnetic impeller from the carafe.
  2. Wash the carafe using mild dish soap (preferably eco-friendly) and warm water.
  3. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. The carafe is dishwasher safe – top rack only.
Tip: Avoid using abrasive sponges or harsh chemicals to protect the glass surface.

Descaling the Carafe

Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may form—especially if you’re using hard water. Descaling is simple and effective.
How to Descale:
  1. Fill the carafe with warm water.
  2. Add 1 teaspoon of citric acid.
  3. Place the carafe on the Swirl base and run the vortex until the residue dissolves.
  4. Empty and rinse thoroughly before using again.

Cleaning the Magnetic Impeller

The white magnetic impeller (located at the bottom of the carafe) is key to creating the vortex motion and should be kept clean and free of stains.

If stained or discolored, soak the impeller overnight in a solution of:
  1. 1 cup warm water
  2. 1 spoon of bleach
  3. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Wash with soap and water before placing it back in the carafe.
Note: Always dry the impeller completely before reinserting.

Base Maintenance

  1. Wipe the porcelain base with a soft, damp cloth as needed.
  2. Avoid submerging the base or allowing water to enter the charging port or motor area.
  3. Keep the touch button area clean and dry for responsive activation.

Storage & Safety Tips

  1. Store in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  2. Never use abrasive cleaners or immerse the base in water.
  3. Use only the included USB-C charging cable and compatible power source.
  4. If unused for extended periods, clean the carafe and impeller before restarting.
