AlkaFlow Mineral Cartridge Installation guide

Installing the AlkaFlow Mineral Cartridge for a reverse osmosis system is very simple and takes only a few minutes. The only tool you will need is a utility knife or a pair of sharp scissors.

Here’s how to proceed:

1 - Prepare your workspace
Keep a rag and a container nearby, as a small amount of water may leak from the system during installation.

2 - Turn off the water supply
Close the cold water valve under the sink that supplies your filtration system.

3 - Close the tank valve
If your tank has a valve, close it as well.

4 - Open the filtered water faucet, then close it again
Opening and then closing the filtered water faucet on the countertop helps release the pressure in the system.

5 - Cut the 1/4-inch tubing that connects the filters to the tank
Using a utility knife or a pair of sharp scissors, cut the 1/4-inch tubing that connects your filters to the tank at a straight 90-degree angle.

6 - Install the AlkaFlow cartridge
Firmly insert each end of the tubing into the cartridge fittings, pushing them all the way in.
Make sure the arrow on the label points toward the tank.

7 - Reopen the valves
Open the tank valve first, then the cold water valve.

8 - Check the installation for leaks
Turn on the filtered water faucet and inspect the connections to make sure there are no leaks.

This video shows how the “push-to-connect” fittings located at both ends of the AlkaFlow Mineral Cartridge work. In the video, the fitting is demonstrated with copper tubing, but the principle is the same with plastic tubing.

To install the tubing, simply push it firmly all the way into the fitting. Then pull gently on the tubing to make sure it is properly inserted and securely held in place. To remove the tubing, press down on the small collar of the fitting while gently pulling the tubing out.
