Set-up Instructions

1. Unpack components. Remove all components from their protective packaging, identifying each item against the checklist on the previous page.

2. Cleanliness is key. To prevent contamination during assembly, wash your hands thoroughly and clean both upper (c) and lower (d) chambers, the lid (a), and the spigot (h) with dish soap and warm water before starting to assemble the product. DO NOT clean the filters.

3. Install the knob. Thread the screw (b2) through the small metal washer (b3) and then through the hole in the lid from the underside. Screw the knob (b1) onto the screw and hand-tighten.

4. Install the spigot. Remove the plastic film from the metal washers. Slide a metal washer (h1) with the beveled side facing the handle, followed by a silicone washer (h2), onto the stem of the spigot. Insert the spigot’s stem through the designated hole in the lower chamber (d) and slide the second silicone washer (h2) and the second metal washer (h1) onto the stem inside the chamber. To secure the spigot in place and ensure a watertight seal, hold the spigot handle facing downwards (pointing to 6 o’clock) with one hand, hand-tighten the nut (h3) inside the chamber with the other hand, then rotate the spigot clockwise until the handle is upright while holding the nut.

5. Install the filters. (No priming required.) Place a black rubber washer (f1) onto the threaded stem of the filter (f). Insert the threaded stem through the hole in the bottom of the upper chamber. Secure the filter from underneath the chamber by hand-tightening a wingnut (f2) onto the stem. Repeat this procedure for all filters. Keep any extra washers as spares.

6. Seal extra holes. If you have more holes than filters, use the provided blocking plugs (g) to seal the extra holes.

7. Assemble the system. Install the rubber ring (e) on the base of the lower chamber. Place the upper chamber (c) onto the lower chamber (d) and fill the upper chamber with water.

8. Test system for leaks. Fill the upper chamber with water and check for leaks around the filter washers, blocking plugs, and spigot assembly. Adjust if necessary.

9. Rinse the filters. Place the lid on the upper chamber and allow all the water to filter through to the lower chamber. Discard the first batch of water as it may contain carbon dust and other particles typical of new filters. Refill the upper chamber with water, and if the filtered water is clear, it is ready to drink. If not, discard the water and repeat the rinsing process until the filtered water is clear.

10. Ready to use. Your AQUA Coldstream Gravity Water Purifier is now ready for use. Enjoy safe, clean, and great-tasting water!

Care & Maintenance

Clean the lower chamber once a month. Use a soft sponge and mild dish soap or a 50-50 mixture of clean water and white vinegar. DO NOT use dishwasher detergent.

Clean the whole system once every 3 months. Remove the spigot and soak it in a 50-50 mixture of clean water and white vinegar for 5–10 minutes to help remove any mineral deposits. Rinse thoroughly under running water. To clean the upper chamber, remove the filters and place them safely so they do not roll off the counter. Wash both chambers with a soft sponge using dish soap or a 50-50 mixture of white vinegar and water. Reinstall the spigot and the filters according to the installation instructions.

Clean the filters as needed. If you notice that the flow rate of your filters slows down, it may be due to an accumulation of particulate matter on the surface of the filters. To clean the filters, remove them from the chamber and scrub them gently under cold running water with a clean scouring pad, then rinse thoroughly and reinstall. DO NOT use soap or any other cleaning agent on the filters.

If you are away for a few days: Do not drink stagnant water. If you are away for more than 5 days, empty the remaining water from the lower chamber when you return and filter it through the system again by pouring it into the upper chamber.

If you are away for an extended period: Empty both chambers before you leave and take the lid off the system to let the filters dry completely. Damp filters can attract mold in a closed, humid environment. When you return, clean the lower chamber with soap and water, and run a full batch of water through the filters before use.

IMPORTANT WARNINGS

· It is normal to have a small amount of water left in the upper chamber, as the system is gravity-fed and the water cannot pass through the base of the filter.
· When the lower chamber is partially filled, be careful not to overfill the upper chamber, as this could cause the lower chamber to overflow. For example: if the lower chamber is 1/3 full, the upper chamber can only be filled to 2/3.
· DO NOT place the AQUA Coldstream gravity system in direct sunlight or near a heat source, as excessive heat can create conditions that facilitate microbiological growth inside the system.
· DO NOT allow humid Coldstream FTO+ filters to freeze. Exposure to sub-zero temperatures can expand the water into ice and can crack or break the filters, compromising filter performance.
· DO NOT wash the Coldstream FTO+ filters with dish soap or detergent.
· DO NOT place the filters in a dishwasher or microwave.
· DO NOT use the system with boiling water.
· DO NOT use the system with seawater or with a saltwater softener, as the filters are not designed to remove minerals.

Filter Replacement

The lifespan of Coldstream FTO Plus filters is 1500 liters per filter or 6 months. If you install 2 filters, you can replace the filters after 3000 liters or 12 months. Performance will diminish over time, so periodic replacement is essential to ensure pure water free of harmful contaminants.
