1. Thoroughly clean the product: Remove the lid and the reservoir from the carafe. Wash all components with dish soap and a soft sponge. Rinse them thoroughly and allow them to dry completely.

2. Prepare the filter: Remove the ALKA-PH filter cartridge from its packaging. Place it upright in a container filled with tap water and let it soak for 10 minutes to activate the filter.

3. Rinse the filter: Remove the filter from the water and hold it under running water for 10 seconds. Then shake the filter up and down a few times.

4. Rinse the filter again: Turn the filter upside down and hold it again under running water for another 10 seconds. Then shake it up and down a few more times.

5. Insert the filter: Place the filter cartridge in the reservoir while the reservoir is not in the product main body. Gently push the filter down into the reservoir with a twisting motion until it is snugly in place and the top of the filter is aligned with the bottom of the reservoir.

6. Fill the reservoir: Place the reservoir and filter into the product main body and ensure it is set correctly in place. Fill the reservoir with cold or room temperature water. Note: The first few batches of filtered water may contain a slight grey dust due to the activated carbon. This is completely normal and is in no way harmful: it is the loose carbon dust typical of any new filter.

7. Discard the water: Once all the water has passed through the filter, discard it. Repeat the rinsing and filtering steps two or three times until the water becomes perfectly clear.

8. Final check: After the third round of water filtration, check its clarity. If the water is clear, it is ready to drink. If not, continue filtering until the water is clean and transparent.
