AlkaFlow™ DUO Undercounter Installation and Maintenance
SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS
Faucet installation
- Drill a 1 3/8" hole at the edge of your sink.
- Unscrew the nut on the valve stem and remove all washers except the one above the counter at the bottom of the faucet. Note the sequence of the washers and the threading of the hoses before removing them.
- Pass the faucet hoses through the hole you just drilled.
- Replace the washers on the faucet tubes below the counter in the same sequence as you removed them. Tighten everything in place with the locking nut.
Attach the metal spout to the faucet body.
Filter installation
- Shut off the cold water valve under the sink.
- Unscrew the cold water hose that is connected to the kitchen faucet.
- Install the supplied T-adapter onto the cold water valve, then reattach the faucet’s cold water hose to the T-adapter.
- Position the filter in your desired location under the sink. You may hang it using the included bracket if desired.
- Connect the 3 plastic tubes coming from the faucet by pushing them completely into the quick-connect fittings as follows:
- Red tube to the T-adapter installed above
- Yellow tube to the filter inlet (the word IN is molded into the plastic)
- Blue tube to the filter outlet (the word OUT is molded into the plastic)
Turn the cold water valve back on and check for any leaks.
Before drinking water from a new cartridge
It’s normal for a new filter cartridge to release some particles at first. Before drinking your first glass of water:
- Let the water run through the filter for at least 5 minutes.
- Let the system sit for a few minutes.
- Then flush the filter with water again for another 5 minutes. If there is any lingering aftertaste, repeat the rinsing process.
Pro tips
- Never overtighten the housing — snug and secure is enough.
- Keep the area under your sink dry and clean to detect any leaks early.
- If water flow slows noticeably before 6 months, the filter may be clogged and should be replaced.
Filter replacement schedule
Filters should be replaced every 12 months based on an average usage of 8 liters/day. Adjust filter replacement frequency depending on daily water usage and water quality.
- Turn off the cold water valve under the sink.
- Drain as much water as possible by turning on the filter faucet.
- Place a jar or bucket under the filter and use the wrench provided to unscrew the bottom part of the filter housing counterclockwise (to the left).
- Remove and discard the old cartridge. Replace it with the new cartridge, making sure to insert it in the correct direction — the arrow on the cartridge should point upward.
- Close the filter housing and tighten it with the wrench.
- Turn the cold water valve back on under the sink.
River of Life vortex water revitalizer installation
The stainless steel River of Life vortex water revitalizer pipe must be installed on the blue tube going from the filter outlet (OUT) to the system’s faucet.
Cut the blue tube (anywhere along the tube) at a 90 degree angle.
Push each end of the sectioned tube into the 2 quick-connect fittings at each end of the vortex pipe. The vortex pipe is non-directional so can be placed in one way or the other.
