AlkaFlow™ DUO Undercounter Installation Guide & Maintenance

Filter Installation

  1. Close the cold-water valve under the sink.
  2. Unscrew the cold-water pipe that goes up to the kitchen faucet.
  3. Install the supplied T-adapter on the cold-water valve and screw the kitchen faucet pipe back onto it.
  4. Position the filter in the desired place under the sink (you can hang it with the provided bracket).
  5. Connect the 3 faucet tubes:
    • Red tube → T-adapter
    • Yellow tube → filter inlet (IN)
    • Blue tube → filter outlet (OUT)
  6. Open the cold-water valve and check for leaks.

Faucet Installation

  1. Drill a 1 3/8” hole on the edge of the sink.
  2. Unscrew the nut on the faucet stem and remove all washers except the one that goes above the countertop. Be sure to note the sequence before removing them.
  3. Pass the faucet tubes through the drilled hole.
  4. Replace the washers in the same order under the countertop and tighten with the nut.
  5. Place the metal spout into the faucet hole.

River of Life Vortex Installation (optional)

The stainless-steel River of Life tube must be installed on the blue tube going from the filter outlet (OUT) to the filtered faucet.
Instructions:
  1. Cut the blue tube at a right angle (90°) at the spot of your choice.
  2. Insert each end of the cut tube into the quick-connect fittings located at each end of the vortex tube.
Note: The vortex tube has no installation direction — you can install it either way.

Faucet Flow

It is normal for water to continue flowing a few seconds after closing the faucet. Since the 2nd cartridge contains minerals, the system is equipped with a three-tube faucet designed to prevent pressure build-up.

For optimal use, close the faucet slightly before your glass is full, allowing the residual flow to finish naturally without waste.

Filter Replacement

With an average consumption of 8 liters per day, the filters should last about 6 months. After that, the water will still be filtered, but performance will begin to decline, as will the beneficial effect of the mineral cartridge. To replace your filters:
  1. Close the cold-water valve under the sink.
  2. Drain the water by opening the filter faucet.
  3. Place a container under the housings and use the supplied wrench to unscrew them (counterclockwise).
  4. Replace both cartridges:
    • The carbon filter in the first position
    • The mineral cartridge in the second position (arrow pointing up)
  5. Close the housings and tighten with the wrench.
  6. Open the cold-water valve and check for leaks.

Rinsing New Filters

As with any new filter, it is normal for particles to be released at first. Before drinking your first glass of water:

  • Let the water run for at least 5 minutes
  • Let the system rest for a few minutes
  • Rinse again for 5 minutes
  • Repeat if any aftertaste persists

Before Consuming Water from a New Cartridge

It is normal for a new cartridge to release particles at first. Before drinking your first filtered water:
  1. Run water through the filter for at least 5 minutes.
  2. Let the system rest for a few minutes.
  3. Then rinse again for 5 minutes.
If a slight taste remains, repeat rinsing until it disappears completely.

Practical Tips

  1. Never overtighten the housing — moderate tightening is enough.
  2. Keep the area under the sink clean and dry to quickly detect any possible leaks.
  3. If the water flow decreases significantly before 6 months, the filter may be clogged and will need to be replaced.
