AlkaFlow™ DUO FAQ & Troubleshooting

How often should I change the filters?

Filters should be replaced every 12 months based on an average usage of 8 liters/day.  Adjust filter replacement frequency depending on daily water usage and water quality.

Can I use hot water in the system?

No, use cold water only. Hot water can damage the filters and housing components.

Can I cook with alkaline water?

How do I test the pH of the water?

Use liquid pH test drops designed specifically for water. Body pH strips (for urine/saliva) are not accurate for testing water.

Routine Maintenance Instructions

  1. Weekly Tips: Wipe down the exterior of the system with a damp cloth.
  2. Run water through the system if unused for more than 48 hours.

Filter Replacement Steps

  1. Turn off the faucet (for countertop model) or the cold water valve (for undercounter model)  to stop water flow to the filter.
  2. Use the included wrench to unscrew the filter housing(s) counterclockwise.
  3. Observe the direction of the mineral filter inside the housing, then remove and discard the old filters.
  4. Install the new cartridges, ensuring the mineral cartridge is installed in the same direction as the filter that was removed.
  5. Screw the housing back on clockwise until snug. Do not overtighten.
  6. Flush the new filter by running cold water through the system for at least 5 minutes. If there is an aftertaste, let it rest and flush again.

Maintenance Reminders

  1. Store extra filters in a cool, dry place.
  2. Keep the filter in contact with water to prevent it from drying out.
  3. Check connections periodically to ensure there are no leaks.
