ÖKO Cleaning & Maintenance

ÖKO Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular cleaning and proper maintenance are essential to ensure the long-term performance and hygiene of your ÖKO Filter Bottle. This guide outlines how to care for your ÖKO bottle and both filter types—Level-2 and Level-3—to keep your water clean, safe, and great-tasting.

Bottle Cleaning

Your ÖKO bottle is made from durable, food-grade materials that are BPA- and phthalate-free. To keep it fresh and ready for use:

How to Clean the Bottle:

  1. Frequency: After every few uses or whenever needed
  2. Method:
    1. Hand wash with warm water and mild dish soap
    2. Use a bottle brush for thorough interior cleaning
    3. Rinse well to remove all soap residue
Important: Remove the filter before cleaning the bottle

Dishwasher Safe?

No — The bottle is not dishwasher safe to preserve material integrity and filter compatibility

ÖKO Level-2 Filter Maintenance

The Level-2 Filter uses advanced electro-adsorbent nano-filtration and is designed for high-efficiency daily use. To keep it functioning at peak performance:

Regular Maintenance:

  1. Never use soap, hot water, or detergents on the filter
  2. If flow decreases, gently rinse the filter exterior with clean water to remove sediment or buildup
  3. Let the filter air-dry completely before reinstalling, if not used regularly

When to Replace:

  1. After filtering 380 liters (100 gallons), or approximately every 3–4 months
  2. When you notice reduced water flow, indicating filter clogging
  3. If you’ve used the filter with water containing high sediment levels, consider replacing it sooner
Tip: A slight dark tint in the water during first use is harmless carbon residue—flush it by squeezing clean water through the filter.

ÖKO Level-3 Filter Maintenance

The Level-3 Filter uses a 0.1-micron hollow fiber membrane designed for rugged conditions and extreme filtration. With proper care, it can last up to 3,000 liters.

Regular Maintenance:

  1. After use, rinse the filter thoroughly with clean water—especially if used with murky or sediment-heavy water
  2. Store in a dry, cool place
  3. Do not use soap, hot water, or dishwashers, as these will damage the membrane

When to Replace:

  1. After 1,000 liters of use under normal conditions, or up to 3,000 liters with regular rinsing
  2. If you experience significant flow reduction, it's likely time for a replacement

Direct Suction Users:

If you're using the Level-3 filter as a straw (outside of the bottle), be sure to:
  1. Blow out residual water after use
  2. Keep the straw and adapter clean with warm water rinses

General Care Reminders

  1. Do not expose any filter to freezing temperatures or high heat—this can damage the filtration membranes
  2. Never use bleach, vinegar, or alcohol on filters
  3. Do not use filters with saltwater or chemically contaminated water (e.g., industrial runoff)
